07th August 2017
On 8 November 2016, this year’s Further Maths students faced a daunting challenge. No, not an A level paper, but the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge!
As you would expect, the questions they faced were not the average Maths problems usually posed needing an ability to count, but required core mathematical knowledge, coupled with logic and reasoning skills. This dazzling trio more than rose to the task.
George Padolsey and Rebecca Welsh both achieved a Silver Award, placing them in the top 30% highest scorers nationwide. Cameron Richards achieved his Gold Award, placing him in the top 10%, as well as qualifying for the British Mathematics Olympiad, where he will be competing against the top 1000 students in the UK – they had better watch out.
Congratulations to this trio of mathematical masters on achieving such fantastic results, and huge thanks to the Maths staff for all their support.
