John Hannyngton

John Hannyngton, Chair of Governors (Community Governor)

John moved to Norfolk over 20 years ago, after a career in educational travel, which he continued from here. He has been a governor at Hindringham Primary School for eight years and was heavily involved in the building of a new classroom for the school.

He was appointed Chair of Governors in September 2019.

Gill Pegg

Gill Pegg, Link Trustee

Gill Pegg has been a governor at Sheringham High School for more than 10 years and in that time was Chair of Governors for 5 years, and Chair of the North Norfolk Academy Trust for 2 years. Gill is now Vice Chair of NNAT. Prior to this, she was a governor and Chair of Governors at Holt Primary School. She has retired from working within the Strategy and Commissioning team of Children’s Services at Norfolk County Council. Gill has project management and leadership and management qualifications and extensive experience of Quality Assurance processes and Careers Guidance. She now enjoys bee keeping, sailing and gardening.



Andrew Richardson, Chief Executive Officer

Andrew Richardson is the Executive Headteacher and CEO for the North Norfolk Academy Trust. He has overall responsibility for School Improvement within the Trust and is its Accounting Officer. Andrew is also the Headteacher of Sheringham High School and part of the Senior Leadership Team overseeing Stalham High School.

Alex Stewart

Alex Steward, Staff Governor

Alex Steward has been a Governor at Sheringham High School since 2013 and is employed at the school as the Library Manager and EPQ Supervisor.  Prior employment was in Local Government in London as the Statutory Complaints Manager for Housing and Social Services Departments in Barnet and Harrow.  


Kate Yabo

Kate Yarbo, Parent Governor

Kate qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 1992, and went on to gain qualifications in Child and Family Systemic Therapy in 1996. She is now an accomplished Senior Manager with over 22 years’ experience of leading organisations in both the Health and Social Care sectors. Her track record in Senior Management positions has led her on to the Board of Directors in 3 organisations.

Kate currently leads an organisation that provides specialist care and education to children who are either looked after, or unable to attend mainstream school. She is passionate about holistic approaches to child wellbeing and the importance of balance within young people’s lives

In her spare time Kate enjoys watching Rugby, surfing and running a charity supporting schools in Gambia – The Gambian Pencil Project.

Clive Hedges

Clive Hedges, Parent Governor

Clive Hedges is a Parent Governor at Sheringham High School. Clive was born in the Town and has worked as a local Sheringham Estate Agent all his career spanning 43 years, becoming a Partner in 2001. He is an active member of the Sheringham Salvation Army and Chairman of the Stable Door Christian Housing Trust for over 20 years providing housing for those unsuitably housed. He is currently Chairman of the North Norfolk Beach Runners, coaching assistant with North Norfolk Harriers Athletics Club and is a trustee of the Sheringham Social League.  Clive is married with two daughters attending Sheringham High School.


R Shepherd

Rebecca Shepherd, Staff Governor

Rebecca has been teaching at Sheringham High School since 2002, based mostly in the Physical Education and History department.  Rebecca has held various roles including whilst at Sheringham including Head of PE and Head of House.  Outside of school Rebecca is actively involved in the local Netball community, playing and coaching in Norwich for Norfolk United at a local and regional level.  She also enjoys skiing and travelling when she can.


Kate Davis, Community Governor

Retired qualified librarian, employed at Sheringham High School for over 17 years. Kate was responsible for developing the library service, designing and equipping the present library which was added to the school in 2001.  As a tutor for the Adult Education Service, Kate delivered computer skills sessions to members of the local community.  Presently, Kate is the co-ordinator for the North Norfolk area of NKaS, a charity supporting local, regional, national and international organisations.


Laura Sayer, Community Governor

Originally from Nottingham, Laura lived in London for nearly 20 years before moving to Norfolk. She is a solicitor in the Norwich office of Mills & Reeve where she specialises in pensions law. She advises companies and trustees of final salary schemes on governance and regulatory issues, corporate sales and acquisitions as well as insurance company buy-outs. Laura advises a number of public sector type bodies on pensions issues including multi-academy trusts and institutions in the higher education sector. In her free time Laura enjoys going to see plays, socialising and going to concerts. Laura was appointed to the Governing Body in September 2020.
