SMSC Day

NOVEMBER 15TH IS SMSC DAY 1                     INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Students are allowed to participate in their activities in mufti unless specifically instructed to do otherwise by the group leader. All students are expected to participate in a visit or to be in school. Any students who stay at home should have a very good reason and their parents should notify the school as normal. Students staying in school should arrive at normal time and go to the places specified on the timetable below. Parents should have received information about activities for those students in years 8, 9 AND 10 who are out of school for the day

YEAR 7

Students will be working on anti – bullying activities throughout the day. This is to coincide with Anti – Bullying Week, which is an annual, national initiative. We will be looking at the different kinds of bullying and the effect it has on others. PC Smith will join us and he will focus on cyber bullying and the risks some young people run by making poor choices when they use their devices. The sessions will be mainly practical and thought provoking. We will discuss the kind of things that the School can do to support students with these issues but also reminding students about their responsibilities. Students should report to the Drama Studio on arrival at school.

YEAR 8

Students will be visiting Sheringham Park with Mr McGlinchey and his team. They will carry out a variety of team building activities based around orienteering and shelter building. This will be a practical day and the students will be out doors. They need to be suitably dressed and have enough food to last them the day. They should report to the Gym on arrival at school. Please see Mr McGlinchey’s letter for more information.

YEAR 9 AND 10

There are two separate trips to Duxford and London. Parents should have received information from the teachers leading these trips about timings. Please contact the trip leader as a matter of urgency if you are unclear of arrangements.
