19th September 2018

At the end of the Summer Term our year 9 students wrote some fabulous poetry and short stories on the theme of War. The creative writing across the year group was spectacular. for english postThe English Department entered these pieces of writing into the Exeter University Creative Writing Competition. Upon returning to school in September, these students learned the fabulous news that of the thirty finalists from all over the country, ten, yes ten of them were our students. Will Stoppani ,Anna Ward, George Wells, Tabitha Russell, Tippi McGarry ,Milly Green. Ayisha Yarbo, James Smith, Willow Bushell and Rudy Haywood were the lucky students. We were absolutely delighted to receive the news that Will Stoppani had won the overall second prize. The judges said that his writing was “a very touching reflection of the common humanity which underpins atrocity.”  Will is now the proud owner of a prize winner’s certificate and a £40 book token. Well done to all of the prize winners in the English creative writing competitions last year. Watch this space for more creative writing this year.
